People in Shildon and the surrounding villages are being reminded that they need to be registered to vote if they wish to have their say in the forthcoming local elections.
County and parish council elections are due to take place on Thursday, 4th May.
Poll cards will be delivered to residents between Friday, 31st March and Monday, 3rd April.
Anyone currently listed on the electoral register and eligible to vote in this election will receive a poll card providing details of their allocated polling station.
Anyone who is not registered is encouraged to register at www.gov.uk/register-to-vote by Thursday, 13th April.
People who are listed on the electoral register can request a postal or proxy vote.
The deadline for postal vote applications is 5pm on Tuesday, 18th April and for proxy vote applications is 5pm on Tuesday, 25th April.
